Roumen Avramov

Programme Director, Economic Research

Roumen Avramov is Program Director at the CLS since 1994 and works in the fields of economic history, economic culture, monetary economics and central banking.

He has been a Senior research fellow at the Institute of Economics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Economic Advisor to President Jelev, Vice-President of the Agency for Economic Coordination and Development of the Bulgarian Government, Member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgaian National Bank.

Among his publications are The 20th Century Bulgarian Economy (2001); the three-volume Communal Capitalism. Reflections on the Bulgarian Economic Past (2007); Money and De/Stabilization in Bulgaria, 1948-1989 (2008). He is the editor of the the five-volumes series Bulgarian National Bank. Selected Documents, 1879-1990 (1999 -2009 )
